Playing around with the "Difference" blending modes using colour fill layers of cyan, magenta, yellow, and white. Interesting how the primary colours seem to show over the white areas.

Cute and CMYK. The pixel art is simple but with the right positioning in each frame, there is a suggestion of movement in its four stubby legs. I found that the CMYK colour scheme is vaguely nostalgic when print relied on the four hues.

Also, I'm strongly reminded of the Philip K. Dick novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? for some reason.

Rotoscoping has always intrigued me. Hotel Dusk and Last Window are adventure video games that have managed to blend hand-drawn frames into a semi-realistic animation on top of computer generated backdrops. The final framing is left to the Nintendo DS, which consists of a touch screen and stylus.

After a long hiatus, the staff have finally made a new game coming next month with a similar aesthetic. Excited!

The artist in charge of the designs is Taisuke Kanasaki, but unfortunately he doesn't have a gallery online as far as I know.

The whole movie is something that has staying power on my mind. It starts as a historical drama and then transcends into an array of retro-futuristic scenery originating from the writer's imagination. The book he writes is the ultimate expression of escapism and regret.

My artistic vision composes of a myriad of ideas involving the fusion of reality and fantasy, escapism, cinematic perfection, and an introspective into the self.

Technology has quickly become the transition between the realms of reality and fantasy, and has made it more difficult to perceive what is true and what is not. Movies and their special effects have found a place in the audience's hearts as a means to provide them an escape from the impossibilities of the real world. From space battles to orc hordes to a return to the Renaissance period, the world can be modded with an application of technological tools.

Video games have evolved from a simple objective to a full cinematic experience, often seen in many series that have a focus on storytelling. Characters are no longer pixels; they are a combination of complex polygons animated by the motion of their actors, from their facial expressions to their full-body movements. Cutscenes, pre-rendered or in real time, can use well-known camera angles and techniques to emulate the theatrical aesthetic. To achieve a high-resolution version of reality in which the player can interact with is almost expected.

Having had so much exposure to the different varieties of media, this can only fuel the motivation to create something completely original, or at least in a way that hasn't been done before.

Finally, the individual journey is one that is unique to each person. Pulling from experiences that have affected me, there is a personal touch to my ideas, and by extension, to my works. What message do I want to send to the world? About myself? About my perspective?
